i am sure there are a lot of possible solutions to the dongle problem. it would be impossible to come up with a solution that would work for everyone. i think it would be best to have a free dongle that any user could use to make a temporary license without even needing to know if they even have a license or not. it’s a bit of a pain to have to register a product key in the os before you can play your music, but if you really want to play music on an expensive piece of equipment it’s only fair. i think this would also insure that steinberg doesn’t have to waste time, energy, and money to come up with another clever way to insure themselves from piracy. of course, it would be a bit of a security risk for steinberg, but the risk would be minimal. the user would just need to make sure that he or she isn’t using a cracked version of cubase sx. of course, the way to do that is for cubase sx to be purchased via a web store that required a credit card and not just a license key. in that way, the user would be protected from all kinds of things, including cracked versions. if you are the one who breaks into my house, you better have a spare key under the doormat. if you don’t, i’ll just get one.
i think having a few work arounds for a crack would be good. the dongle problem should not be a reason for you not to use cubase sx. after all, vst’s are the perfect example of a working system that was cracked, that is why steinberg released an alternative in the first place. let’s see what a real solution would look like.
there are ‘a few’ bugs with steinberg’s cubase, not ‘tons’ –
tons of people who’ve bought cubase 5.x have had the same problems.
what bugs, exactly? the sx “works”, you can make music, you can do
effects and stuff. i don’t use the cubase software, so i don’t know
about these bugs (if there are any) but maybe someone else can give you
a better answer.
the cubase sx exe files are identical to the sx exe files for
cubase vst 3.6 and cubase sx. you can run these exe files in
steinberg’s cubase 5.5.3, but you won’t be able to use the sx/cubase
functions. that’s because the sx exes are not properly licensed.
the sx exe file names in steinberg’s cubase 5.3 are
sx_dx_vst.exe and sx_dx_vst.exe, respectively.

anyways, i’ll eventually be going back to cbmp for a while. i don’t really like doing everything in one program. it’s more difficult for me to work on a project that way. i’ll get the cubase sx out, and i’ll try cubase sx with that emulation box.
well thanks for the info. i have to agree with the other guy. i have the cubase sx emulation software (haven’t downloaded it yet). all you have to do is put the emulat.dol (or whatever it’s called) file on a flash drive. then use the image program on the computer to make the image. then go into the image program and install the image to another computer and you have the software installed. lots of room.
okay, so they think the people who call them out on it are just thepeople who got a cubase crack. they actually think people are going touse the crackwareware, that’s how they think. actually, the developers of the software are probably morelikely to use the crack than the people who produce the crack. andin this case, those people are even more likely to use the crack thanthe developers. anyways, it’s like the guy who buys the cd saying, “i’m getting acrack for this!” and then pointing at you and saying, “i’m getting acrack for that!” you’re like, “no, you’re not! i haven’t gotten a crack for that! iordered the cd! it’s gonna be here tomorrow!” he’s like, “well, i ordered the cd, too.” so you’re like, “i ordered the cd, too! i didn’t get the crack,either! what are you talking about? you’re not getting a crack forthis!”
a program like cubase stretches the limits of the machine, anyinconsistency can and will show up. i would consider the patron a fool if he ate at a resturant hemade an investment in.. declared the food unedible. got up and leftwithout explaining how and why it was so. doesn’t do anyone any good,just makes for big show.
