mortal kombat trilogy was released in 1996 for the sega saturn, playstation and nintendo 64. it was the last installment in the franchise, and it featured every playable character from the series up to that point. the game also featured a new engine and gameplay mechanics, leading to a more sophisticated fighting game than anything else in the series.
the game has two modes. the first is the single player mode which is the same as ultimate mortal kombat 3 and thus requires the ram of the console. the second mode is the multiplayer mode which allows you to go head to head against another player online. you can be a member of a fight club or a clan and this allows you to fight against other fight club members. you can earn stars by winning fights. once you have enough stars, you can buy different ninjas, tracks and costumes. the tracks include basic and easy to difficult. the costumes include classic and modern versions of the classics. there are three difficulty settings. arcade, hard, and expert. the expert mode is the hardest but it offers more stars for winning. the expert mode is recommended if you are a newcomer. if you have played ultimate mortal kombat 3 and are looking for a change, then the standard arcade mode is perfect for you.
the mortal kombat trilogy game allows you to play as sub-zero and reptile. the storyline has sub-zero and reptile looking for new equipment to use in the ongoing war against the forces of evil. they arrive in the netherrealm, a dimension of evil. they meet up with shang tsung, the master of the realm, who tells them that the portal that leads into the netherrealm is broken and needs to be fixed in order for them to continue. they also learn that the other male ninjas have been corrupted by evil and must be stopped. sub-zero and reptile also must stop shao kahn and his minions. however, sub-zero and reptile must look out for each other during this quest. the game has a prequel of sorts to the story. it is called mortal kombat mythologies. this game allows you to play as raiden, scorpion, ermac, noob saibot, rain, jax, kung lao, motaro, and chameleon.
we understand that not every fan of mk is a fan of everyone else, as well as fans of another ip could possibly get a different opinion when it comes to playing mk again. we want to create a game that is as close to the original as possible, but still a current game that would satisfy mk fans in general. if you like the main concepts we have presented this would be your ideal mk game.
we made the design of the characters, special moves, intro, outro and graphics so they have all the mortal kombat stylings and have made the key characters playable in mortal kombat (mk) 1-4 and added the general moves into every character’s fighting moveset.
the game will feature all the mortal kombat characters, hopefully even some of the dlc characters. added to that all the game modes and play modes from the classic games (like fatalities and fatality challenges) will be included. we also want to include all the tournament modes from mk ii-x. the game will also feature a new cast of characters that are based off the mainstream mortal kombat players (and other characters) that have inspired eyeballistic.
there are some options available for how you complete the game, for example, you can play the whole game from the beginning (or mid way) and finish off how it was in the original mortal kombat games. this is also a way to play through it as if you never played the game. you can also play normal, harder and expert difficulty.
we are currently talking with legal people about the whole “remake of a remake” thing. so, the game wont be any more mk3 than it already is, as there wouldnt be any mk3 in the story, but we want to keep the name mortal kombat in the title, something we believe warner bros wouldnt mind, even though mk2 was released in 1991.
