the new version of financial modeling is a very good replacement for the previous edition. it is a very clear introduction to the topics. the editors have done an excellent job in keeping the style, tone and feel of the previous edition. the new chapters on monte carlo methods, monte carlo sampling and ltcm are very good additions to the text and they are easy to follow. in the previous edition, the chapter on options was too brief and lacked depth. the chapter on monte carlo methods and sampling is good and makes the topics easily accessible. the new chapter on ltcm was also missing from the previous edition. ltcm is probably the most important model in modern finance. the new chapter is good and provides a good introduction to the topic. in addition, the new edition includes a chapter on corporate finance. this chapter is very good and a good supplement to the previous text. it also provides good illustrations. overall, the book is a very good text and should be considered as an alternative to introduction to financial mathematics by weston and wilmott.
