part starship troopers, part alien-with a dash ofprometheus–terminator genisys is a thoroughly enjoyable low-budget alien-style time-travel-horror flick that marks a welcome return to the dark, dangerous thrill of the original series. the third instalment is the best since the original.
then we get to the meat of this movie and it is a bit of a mess. you would have to be a moron to think that the movie was going to be anything like the original terminator movie. the original was complex and this is a very simplistic film which actually makes the story more simplistic than it needed to be. what it could have been is a very good time-travel-horror movie with complex antagonists and a good plot, but it doesnt deliver either of those things. but it has potential and some interesting ideas, but they are completely ruined by plot holes, cgi that makes no sense, and plot developments that are completely out of nowhere (so much so that i don’t even know how the ending was written, it seemed like the writers added it in at the last minute).
