These models are designed to be used in an in vitro model for simulating stent implantation. Different stenosis levels (0% – 40%) are simulated with a 3D printed model of a human iliac artery. To simulate a typical stenosis, a coil of fabric material is inserted in the model’s lumen and is pushed towards the inner side of the vessel. To simulate a more severe stenosis, different coils of fabric are cut to a smaller diameter. The 3D models were analysed using digital image analysis. The smaller the coil, the greater the stenosis degree of the model. The proposed method provides a reproducible and standardized way to fabricate a vascular model with a variable stenosis level.Abstract:
