EffEm provides a new dimension in sound modulation and modulation mapping. Originally created for use with the impressive new sonic revolution/revolution expansion for S.F.U.M it has become highly effective for many applications in the VST plugin domain and that will no doubt increase as we add more and more new features with every future release.
EffEm uses OSC to control internal and parametric modulation. It is highly versatile and provides modulating effects for recording, treatment of audio and synthesis. Fucking Awesome!
Installation and Requirements:
This is required by the S.F.U.M revolutionary expansion. Easy to use plug in.

The son of S.F.U.M. arrives… With much use of host sync to bpm and with an unusual filter array effem takes up wher S.F.U.M left off. The EffEm VST plugin provides much rythmic mayhem and electric fun to be had here… Complete with a full set of 128 presets from vurt, Steven West & blaster78.
Host sync plugin: Rever-BPM. Reverb is “Tempo Control” in the mixer.
Filter: This filter is a mix of a High Pass filter, an Audio Echogenics / Sonic Elements (EL1) 1000BassFilter, and an Audio Echogenics (EL2) 1000HighPassFilter. The filter changes with the BPM of the sample.
Triangulation: Triangulation is the practice of sounding two or more instruments simultaneously in an attempt to cancel out the difference in their frequency response and partially mask imperfections in both instruments. When these two instruments are of different frequencies, they are said to be detuned.
Time Alignment: Time alignment is the practice of making two or more sounds in time parallel to one another. In a non-synthesized environment time alignment can be achieved by having a drum machine play the same beat on different tracks.

I called this one from a storm. This sample is played at 127BPM with an effective playing rate of 96BPM… Not tripping with this… But I know many of you will do… Then I created a Transient Trigger VST to go with it. I didn’t use Kontakt as I don’t like the way it sounds in. A sample by freaky, from his Determined Silence website. All versions of the sample have been correctly resampled at 95BPM… And this should be it with no issues. A sample by Zephir, from his VST Synthesis Suite. This is a nice little temp trigger. It probably needs 2ndhand some SPL reduction / IF loops at a lower BPM. I have used it with some nice results. Imagine the easiest way to make a track in popular music and sounds like you are taking a trip through the Rhythm Clock, or through the worlds most wicked synth, making thousands of sounds to the beat of your choosing. In the simplest words possible, the EffEm VST plugin provides ‘Wicked’ experimental sounds and patterns. You will want to hear the cleanest sounds possible, for example a Noise Pattern with Free Decay whose volume is ramping up and down in sync to the beat. So it’s a good idea to keep a couple of clean synths and transpose them to the tempo you need for the main pattern.
The idea behind the EffEm VST plugin is to wrap up the rhythm and put it on your VST-4-rack or DAW of choice. The sounds are so wicked that I will almost certainly be back to add more to the extensive 128 presets that come in this version.

Doesn’t work in Ableton Live 9… Update:
I have now finally updated the plugin, so it works with Ableton Live 9. Yes this includes the new 64 bit version of Live. If you have bought the 64 bit version of Live, you may need to change your Plugin Folder to the new location for the plugin, it is located under:
Mac: /Applications/Ableton\ Live\ 9.0.2/Contents/Plugins
PC: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ableton\ Live 9.0.2\Contents\Plugins
Windows: %ProgramFiles%\Ableton\ Live 9.0.2\Contents\Plugins
The upgrade is super easy, you just drag and drop the.tar.gz file into the plugin folder, so in my case it’s just drag and drop the plugin file to the plugin folder, but just be sure to read the documentation provided in the folder.
