My Movies For Windows Home Server [Mac/Win]
My Movies for Windows Home Server is a single add-on program for Windows Home Server. Provides automatic identification of movies in your Windows Home Server’s video libraries. It adds meta-data to the filenames, the media-type, the runtime time of the file, and any content information that is available to the software that reads the file.
Identify, maintain, and browse your movie folders on the Windows Home Server, see your movies and browse for the right files. Supports metadata such as actors, producers, director, etc.
After installation, My Movies for Windows Home Server will prompt you to add a folder with media files to your Media Center that will be automatically identified and become available to My Movies for Windows Home Server.
The identification will be done using the movie meta-data from the file, and as such the meta-data that is found in the movie file, as well as any other information that is available to the media handling software, will be used to create a unique ID for each movie file.
If My Movies for Windows Home Server does not find any movie files in the folder, you can add a folder manually to the Media Center, and this folder will be added to the movie folder file and will be indexed with My Movies for Windows Home Server.

This is not the first version we have reviewed, however, it is now released publicly and so we are adding it to the UPT Sidebar. It has seen a major refactoring since the last UPT review, and has a number of improvements and bug fixes too.
I can confirm that it works very well as described in the description, but your mileage may vary.
As a Windows Home Server owner, I am becoming more and more frustrated with the Windows Media Center… I am told that WMC is the “ultimate media experience”, but it fails to deliver on that promise. It has basic TV functions, but I would not call it a TV DVR or even an audio recorder.
I have an HDMI TV connected to my console via HDMI cable, and my Wi-Fi is connected too, so I already have a working setup. I have started from the beginning using WMC in order to add content for playback on my TV, however, I have the feeling that it has gotten worse in each new version, and it is already “old news” that it is not suited for such a task.
Windows Home Server is bundled with Media Center (v6) and so is WMC. In addition to that there are 3rd party add-ons like MediaPortal, that claim to make WMC even better.
My dilemma with WMC is that it is not suited as a simple DVR application. It is not suited to record the show I missed, or the show I want to show my kids that day, or the audiobook I am listening to. I get the impression that it is setup to make WMC the ultimate digital media center.
I prefer to put my music, my movies and my TV shows in folders. These folders are then categorized, and I make playlists with the TV shows, movies, audiobooks and audiobook playlists.
In WMC I have to categorize my content however I choose. I do not like the WMC interfaces to categorize folders and playlists, which means that it requires a lot of babysitting.
