im glad to see masashi kishimoto is an artist and writer on this game, because the artwork and character designs are some of the best i have seen in this type of game. the characters in ultimate ninja storm revolution have a personality that was lacking in the previous games. the two new characters to the series, gamabunta and oboro, have a fairly unique play style, and it was great seeing the characters that we know from the naruto manga being playable in this game. however, the soundtrack and voice acting are awful, which is a real disappointment after ultimate ninja storm 3 had a pretty stellar soundtrack and voice acting.

the gameplay in ultimate ninja storm revolution is a mixed bag. the combos, which are a staple of the series, have been revamped in a way that isnt too complicated, yet isnt simple. the input has been changed from the previous games, which ive come to accept as the series standard, but the input method isnt intuitive and does make the game feel a little complicated. all of the characters are still the same as before with just a few tweaks to their moveset, but there is a new feature that lets you perform combo attacks called trait attacks. trait attacks are executed by holding down the button to initiate the attack and then releasing the button to perform a powerful attack. this system is still very confusing and it often seems to just be an annoyance that i need to remember how to use.

the four-way battle mode, which is the main focus of ultimate ninja storm revolution, is one of the biggest problems that revolution has. when you choose the four-way battle mode, youll be thrown right into the middle of a fight, where you are actually the one in control of the four characters on the field. so when a character gets defeated, it leaves the field, and the next character will take its place. however, in a four-way battle, you have to be aware of a few things: first, the characters are controlled simultaneously, which is fine when one character is trying to kill another, but as soon as the fight starts, its like one of those pinball machines where a character will take control of the ball and youre just along for the ride. so once a character takes control of the ball, it can get away from you, and when that happens, youre out of luck. another thing that is a bit annoying is that you can only control one character at a time, so youre never really in control of the battle, as youre trying to figure out who is who. but the worst part is that the attacks are different for each character, and if youre not paying attention, you can get thrown off track and get hit by a powerful attack. this is one of the most frustrating aspects of the game, as youre trying to play as naruto and someone just walks through you and takes control of the ball and kills you.

naruto shippuden: ultimate ninja storm revolution can be played using the 3d mariko’s nest mode. this allows players to play as their favorite character in a pre-rendered, anime-style game. you can play as any of the playable characters in the game, and you can switch between them at any time using the d-pad. you can also play the game with two people, which is a great option if you are playing with friends who have different controllers. although the controls are basic, this game is fun to play, especially with friends.
