the way jamal and salim pick up on the a-team standard of “did you get it?” is essentially the way american television shows are edited. they veer from the gravely serious, when a contestant needs some time to think, to the absurd, when jamal is doomed to fail the qulity show. salim is smitten with india and furious at some of the indians who have upset his brother. his attitude eventually leads him to lie about where jamal is. when jamal returns, salim is angry with him. salim says, they took my brother, they took my brother.
