On the subject of a future update on Phoenix Launcher, your developers will now be in high demand on building their own servers, so the update might be delayed. They are also working hard on the beta of the new game, so if you would like to see a nice PTS release in the near future, either share this thread or join the next PTS Live Stream. The developers will be on the PTS from February to May next year, so we also have some time. During this time, there will be no further announcements about the game and roadmap. The developers at Phoenix Network have decided to release the beta of the new game on a PTR (Public Test Region) server. You can activate the PTR, and PTR servers can help you make sure the game is ready before it’s released on the main server. The aim is to make the beta as stable as possible.
Until now, Phoenix Launcher had been distributed on PTR. So, the question still remains as to whether the beta will be released on the main server. In the community there are many opinions and concerns regarding this. So, until the developers decide, we will be checking the game and the PTR server on a daily basis.
With the inclusion of Phoenix in the game, the kits are always in development, and their gameplay may change at any time. Consult their in-game descriptions for a full preview of their abilities.
I’d love to use the Temporal Physics engine under the Sega CD (to make introversion and exploration feel nice) and a Grpahics Instancing Engine to give the games a little more context/bumpiness (think old games like F-Zero or Harvest Moon). I have both engines available to me, but I haven’t studied them thoroughly enough to know whether they can work together. The oddest or missing functionality that would be nice to have for Phoenix right now: Pre-A post-processing shader. If possible, they could be added as filters to be applied to textures using the shader object (so you could tweak your game to want higher quality textures than the graphics card can actually output). This gives a nice sense of being in a movie theater as things like distorted motion blur and some eye candy can be achieved by tweaking the shader. The shader could also be used for enhancing or degrading graphics card features like Antialiasing, image filtering, edge enhancement, etc. Additionally, you might be able to even wrap your graphics card into a texture filter system, so like the old n64’s hardware settings that let you filter how much detail the ZOS1 does, and then things like Antialiasing work (I think this is called YUV, I might be wrong). You could even go so far as to have different filters just for detecting texture space, like edge detection, smoothing, etc. I’m sure other developers have come up with similar settings for improving games and would be happy to share. But if anyone could just make a shader that could do this, I’d be ecstatic!
