More of an action-packed prequel than a political war, Revenge of the Sith is a love letter to action films without making it seem like that is the only measure of merit. Moving beyond his usual mechanics, Lucas gives us a Star Wars movie where the CGI is both over-the-top and understated, a beautiful mystery box of a movie that is short, tight, intense and best viewed with your eyes wide open. The only real flaw is that the movie is crammed with so much goofy, self-congratulatory, corny dialogue that it makes it nearly impossible to watch more than once, creating an extremely slow and uneventful movie. It’s not a bad movie by any means, but it’s still a frustrating one.
In other home entertainment news, the 100th episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, titled “Slow Down, Sparky,” will air on Disney’s official YouTube channel on April 15.

Admittedly, it’s really hard to justify spending over $90 on a Star Wars movie that is not nearly as good as most other entries of the franchise, especially when there’s so much excellent content sitting on the shelf that’s better value. But I am a bit of a sucker for the massive expectations surrounding a big-budget, Star Wars movie, and this one delivers in an extremely un-Star Wars way that is without a doubt the best of the prequel trilogy and the best Star Wars movie I’ve ever seen.
4K Ultra HD offers unprecedented detail and picture quality that boasts a striking resemblance to the film’s theatrical presentation, which is no mean feat given that the majority of the movie’s imagery was shot digitally. It’s accurate to say there’s little in Episode III that can’t be achieved on Ultra HD, but it’s not the most engaging experience for film geeks. The disc begins with a very short featurette about the making of the film, which is initially vague but by the end of the presentation the viewer gets the impression that Lucas decided to “make” Episode III to fulfill his obligation to fans while he could still do so without too many restrictions (at least legally). Next up are Episode III’s two blooper reel scenes, which are mildly amusing for the first, and lead to the very jolly scenes of bantering between Chancellor Palpatine and the Grand Moff Tarkin and their comedic remarks. The featurette is followed by the main menu with its enticing digital copy selection.
