This sounds like the same problem I had in Battlefield 2. Happens to me randomly as well. The mouse pointer gets all zippy, zips around, and can end up being extremely slow to control. The only way to fix this is to change your settings to something like “Low Pointer Accuracy” or something like that. You may need to play with your graphics settings to get it to the point where it’s not so weird. I did not fix this so I’m not sure if it’ll be fixed in the patch.
Keep working on your chances of getting it to work. Most things are reported to be able to work, although none have been seen to work 100% at the moment. try going in safe mode and uninstalling everything you can. Win 7 is the most notorious to get that error, mostly because win 7 requires you to make an option for the games to run.
1) Click Start button and select Run and enter the following:
a) Start → All Programs → BattleField 3 (TM)
b) Right-click BattleField 3 (TM) and select Uninstall
c) Close the “Programs and Features” window and restart your computer
Even though BF3 is at the end of it’s life cycle, the good people at DICE have already started working on the next iteration of their online military shooters and are releasing the new version before the end of the year. As soon as the release date is announced, the DICE forums and community will be ablaze with info and new threads.

Battlefield 3 will launch for the PlayStation 3 on August 21st on the Xbox 360 on August 28th and on the PC on October 29th. Players should have a PlayStation 3 copy of Battlefield 3 by then, although it will be a free download for those who already have it. The PC version will be a download via Origin for $59.99. All players should have the game by November.
